Mercedes Benz Travego
Accident prevention is a prime consideration for any vehicle bearing the Mercedes star. Operating and driver-fitness safety are therefore crucial issues at Mercedes-Benz. Travego drivers can look forward to a new-look, user-friendly cockpit. More emphasis than ever has been placed on the driver. The curved design and rounded forms used in the interior make for an exceptionally ergonomic workplace offering maximum appeal.
Using the buttons on the new four-spoke multifunction steering wheel, the driver can call up a host of relevant information on the colour display of the new instrument cluster. This includes stylised representations of the sides of the touring coach. Individual sensors immediately draw the driver’s attention to any flaps or doors that are not closed. The telephone, hands-free system and basic functions of the audio system can also be operated effortlessly using the buttons on the steering wheel. In the Travego, the driver’s hands stay firmly on the high-grip steering wheel – boosting safety even further.

Mercedes Benz Citaro
Stuttgart / Bucharest, 9 July 2009
At the end of June the Mercedes-Benz Bus and Coach Unit delivered the 1000th Mercedes-Benz Citaro urban bus to the Romanian bus operator Regia Autonoma de Transport Bucuresti (RATB). The symbolic handover of keys to the mayor of Bucharest, Oprescu Tbilder, was performed by Dr. Eckehard Stengel, Head of EvoBus Romania, at the grand opening of EvoBus Romania’s new location. EvoBus is a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG.
"The opening of our new customer and service centre in Bucharest highlights our commitment to eastern Europe, and we are proud of the successes of our colleagues locally as well as the good sales performance and professional maintenance contracts," said Holger Suffel, Head of Sales at EvoBus.
Daimler Buses has been represented in Romania since April 2006 and has sold around 1200 buses there over the last three years. Daimler Buses has a market share of around 50% and is the clear market leader in buses.
For the Bucharest transport operator the 10,000th Mercedes-Benz Citaro in use will be 12 metres long and fitted with a Euro 4 BlueTec® engine and 27 seats. With this delivery Mercedes-Benz Bus and Coach unit is fulfilling the major order it received in 2007 for 500 Mercedes-Benz Citaro urban buses. The Romanian capital first ordered 500 Citaro urban buses back in 2005. The low-floor urban buses are manufactured at the EvoBus plants in Mannheim and Ulm.

The RATB fleet includes trams and trolley buses as well as a total of 1500 buses, 1000 of which are Mercedes-Benz Citaro urban buses. The Bucharest transport operator offers connections for both the city centre and rural areas on a total of 51 bus routes. In 2008 around 50 percent of the public transport in Bucharest was covered via bus connections.
One decisive criteria for the selection of the new EvoBus Romania location in Bucharest was providing better accessibility for customers. The premises covering 12.000 m² allow for more services and maintenance for Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses, such as 24-hour service. The after-sales area also offers professional driver and technical training for customers and service partners. A total of around 90 staff work at the new location.
The lightweight city bus ZK6120HNG built with great efforts rolled off the line on December 22, 2010.
The curb weight of the city bus is 10.38 tons, which is the lightest one among the counterparts with the same length and configuration in China’s bus industry. Adopted brand new appearance, the bus is 11.56-meter long with integral structure, leaf spring and low entrance. The loading capacity is increased by 20% while fuel consumption reduced by more than 5%.
Optimizing structure through accurate CAE analysis, ZK6120HNG city bus adopts high-strength steel, ensuring the strength and stiffness of frameworks while reducing the overall weight. Meanwhile, the durability, safety and NVH performance of the bus have not been affected. With the platform-based design way, the structure can be expanded, laying a good foundation for the subsequent development of 10.5-meter leaf-spring low entrance city bus and 12-meter airbag low entrance city bus.
The flat and obstruction-free floor extends beyond the middle doors, allowing passengers to move easily at the front of the bus and sit comfortably with good visibility in the rear. The flexible floor layout makes it possible to accommodate many forward-facing seats while including seating for the elderly and infirm.
A low floor and full side kneeling promotes smooth passenger entry and exit. Safety and reliability have been further enhanced by incorporating the kneeling function in the intelligent electrical system.
The longitudinally installed engine meets your choice of Euro 4 and EEV requirements for emissions compliance, and all daily inspection points are conveniently gathered together for easy access.
Available in 12- to 15-metre versions (the longer with steered tag axle) and as 18-metre articulated, all with the same excellent manoeuvring and handling characteristics.
